Musical sequels are relatively rare with only a handful springing to mind none of which attained even remotely similar success to the original show they followed. Review – Skin Deep – Opera North

This new, surreal dark comedy operetta, co-produced between Opera North, Bregenzer Festspeile, and the Royal Danish Opera, is certainly modern opera. Parts of the show are very funny, other parts almost hit the spot or might well have done. (more…)

Tom Bidwell‘s Company Along The Mile has a really promising premise which delivers enough laughs and surprises to stand out from the norm. It’s a shame then that ultimately, there are too many loose ends in the script which make it less credible as a whole, as some of the scenes have real bite. (more…)
